SQUAD TOURS

The WMJS aims to offer weekends away and a summer tour most years, giving squad members the opportunity to train in high quality terrain in other parts of the UK or abroad.

JIRCS

Each year the squad sends a team to compete at the Junior Inter Regional Championships.

Moray 2022

In July 2022, six members of the WMJS squad joined members of the Welsh squad on tour in sunny Scotland.

Hawkshead

Every November the Junior Regional Orienteering Squads (JROS) organise a weekend of training for 15 and 16 year olds in the Lake District.

Sweden

In the past every even year (2006, 2008, 2010, 2012,2014) in the School Summer holidays the squad has been to Sweden for a week’s training.

Lake District 2023

The squad joined with members of the East Midlands junior squad on the weekend 3rd-5th November.

The Saturday was a coaching session at Great Tower Wood, with Sunday a challenging regional event on the technical & physical sand dunes at Roanhead.

Wales

February half term 2014 we visited the Gower.

Finland 2023

In August 2023, ten members of the WMJS squad joined members of the Welsh squad on tour in Finland.
