The squad travelled to the New Forest for a training weekend at the start of the month, taking part in the UK's longest running annual club orienteering event- The November Classic.
The squad enjoyed a sunny training session at Rough Close, practising compass bearings and selecting attack points, before finishing with a Cluedo-themed relay.

Fourteen members of the squad travelled to the Forest of Dean on the 28th and 29th September to take part in the 2024 Junior Inter-Regional Championships.
Six members of the squad were selected for JROS Training Camps.
A joint terrain training with the East Midlands squad was held at Allestree Park in Derbyshire. Four squad members then attended Barry Elkington's fundraising quiz in the evening, selling raffle tickets. Twelve teams filled the room at Kenilworth Cricket Club to capacity, with three hours of varied quizzing sustained by the hard working bar staff and delicious food and cakes from local company Fabulous Suppers.
The year's technical Zoom training programme kicked off with a chance to study the maps for forthcoming events.
A Christmas themed training session on the Lickey Hills, complete with snow and ice! A fun day of mini races followed by hot chocolate, and a fond farewell to our MW18s for whom this was their last training day with the squad.
The squad had a really good weekend training in the Lake District together with some members of the East Midlands junior squad on the weekend 3rd-5th November.
The MW16s returned to the Lake District at the end of the month to take part in the JIRCS Hawkshead 2023 training camp.
We had a fantastic terrain training session at Hartshill Hayes on Sunday 22nd October, where we welcomed some new West Midlands juniors to try out a squad training session.

In August 2023, ten members of the WMJS squad joined members of the Welsh squad on tour in Finland.
A fast and furious sprint training day at Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire. Valuable race strategy practice, and an opportunity to work on running form and good physical technique.
Christmas themed training at Pooley Country Park on 11th December. A compact area with three distinctive areas, each with their own challenges.
An enjoyable weekend's training in the Lake District was held 25th-27th November, with eight members of the squad tackling some challenging terrain.
Well done to everyone who ran at the West Mids Champs at Sutton Park on 13th November. As well as some great runs, an impressive £206.65 was raised from the WMJS cake stall. Thank you to everyone who bought a cake, and to OD for allowing us to have the stall. And thank you to everyone who worked hard making cakes and staffing the stall.

A fantastic week on tour with the Welsh Junior squad in Moray. High quality training on the sand dunes of Culbin and Roseisle, and Darnaway Forest followed by relaxation on the beach and plenty of evening entertainment.
